Thorvald Radu Foley Hawkins

Thorvald Radu Foley Hawkins was born at 2:07 AM, 28 April, 2007 at the University of Washington Medical Center Midwives Clinic. He weighed 3.886 kilograms (8 lbs, 9.1 oz) at birth, was 22 inches long, and we are delighted to have him. The birth was pretty tremendous--like nothing I've ever experienced. Brad, Rachel, Kristina, and the others there were invaluable. I was 12 days late and had to be induced on Thursday evening, started contractions at 4 am Friday morning, and Thorvald (Tor, or Thor--either are fine; Thorvald means "thunder god"; Radu means "happy") was born at 2 am on Saturday. He is a perfectly healthy and happy boy--very content, very cute, very wonderful, and we're very proud of him. Personality highlights so far are that he really digs his father's singing, found his mother's breast without prompting, and seems a positively charming young man. Physically, he has a full head of hair, Claire's eyes, Brad's nose, and HUGE feet and hands! We welcome him with all our love and are tickled to find him happy to be here.
