Astrid's First Birthday!

Our little wonder Astrid turned one on Saturday, and we celebrated by letting her do whatever she wanted, which, not surprisingly, was exactly what I would have wanted too: sleep in till noon.

Thorvald was still fighting a little bit of bronchitis and an ear infection, so we skipped Kindermusik and the anti-graffiti work at Queen Anne's Counterbalance park, took it easy playing cars, and let Astrid sleep the morning away and Brad finish giving cello lessons. We had a delicious lunch of the rest of the colored Easter eggs as egg salad sandwiches (or pbj wrap, as desired). Turns out egg salad is one of Brad's favorites too!

We then picked up Corinna, whose mom was moving apartments, and went to a children's museum where we could let the kids run around and touch anything they wanted and we didn't have to say no.

Everyone had a lovely time and Corinna and Thorvald agreed they both needed macaroni and cheese for dinner, so we treated them, and Astrid, to a delicious mac and cheese dinner (and for Astrid as a treat, some of my chocolate milkshake),

and the two that had not slept all morning promptly fell asleep on the way home.

We watched a bit of a Richard Scarry video together when we got home and then took Corinna back to her new apartment, and as a bedtime story I told the kids all about the wonderful birth of Astrid. I've finished writing her 1 year birthday letter, and putting together her baby book and three other photo books. We didn't do many presents--a few books, the Richard Scarry video, and a healthy deposit into her college savings account. We'll have a family get-together and combined birthday celebration here on the 18th with cake for both kids. Thanks for being such a great baby Astrid! O Astrid we love you!
